🚶♂️ Our Journey
From a Single Vision to a Growing Movement
In 2024, during a return visit to his homeland of Ethiopia, Maruan Adam witnessed a reality that changed his life. In remote villages across the Oromia Region — in Hararghe, Arsi, Bale, Wollega, and Jimma — he saw children eager to learn, but with no access to basic education.
There were no schools, no books, no roads. Children sat outside on dusty ground, writing on wood boards, taught by volunteer local teachers — without pens, paper, or proper classrooms. Some walked for hours just to attend makeshift lessons under trees.
“It broke my heart,” Maruan said. “These children wanted nothing more than to learn — but had nothing to learn with.”
When he returned to Atlanta, Georgia, Maruan turned heartbreak into purpose. He founded Support KHARE in Need — a non-governmental organization (NGO) with a mission to give every child in Ethiopia access to education, dignity, and opportunity.
📚 From Idea to Impact
Starting with a community-driven fundraising campaign, KHARE successfully raised the support needed to build its first school. In less than a year, over 1,000 students returned to the classroom — many for the first time in their lives.
Since then, our journey has grown from one school to a vision of regional transformation. We’ve provided:
-
Educational materials and school uniforms
-
Emergency food and hygiene kits
-
Support for local teachers and volunteers
-
Safe learning spaces in isolated areas
🌍 Where We’re Going
Today, KHARE continues to serve vulnerable children across Oromia. But this is just the beginning. Our dream is to reach every underserved child in rural Ethiopia with lasting support — through education, healthcare, and empowerment.
Together, we’re not just building schools —
We’re building futures.
We’re building hope.
We’re building change.
